Abstract

Near contact binary (NCB) is one of the interesting close binary, which can be in the intermediate stage between detached or semi-detached state and contact state. So they are the important observational targets lying in the key evolutionary states. We have observed and analyzed a group of targets covering all types of NCBs. In this paper, the general properties of all four NCB subclasses are discussed. Combined our results and that from the literature, the relations between radii, mass, luminosity, and orbital period of NCBs are presented. Then, an evolutionary sequence of case A mass transfer is suggested.
